I finally got an eye exam today after putting needing to have one and putting it off and putting it off some more. I knew my eyesight has gotten worse, but damn! I had no idea just how bad it had gotten until I couldn't see shit on the little eye chart until they rolled up the largest letters on the test and had to squint a bit to see those. That my friends is just scary bad. Apparently I was seeing at 20/100 and now I'm at 20/20 with shiny new contacts. It's totally awesome to be able to see properly again, but my new contacts are killing my eyes while trying to adjust. At least I'll be able to see properly when the kiddo and I go on our trip in a few weeks. ;)

I also got my hair done today and it's fab. I was initially just going to get a trim and then I decided to go blonde and get bangs as well. Love the new hair!

I'm way behind on Lost and don't really care if I catch up. I know it's supposed to be the shit now, but I've only been mildly interested this season anyway, so I doubt I'll bother to finish watching. I'm kind of over VM too and I used to love it. :( I am however totally in love with Heroes (Peter!), FNL (Matt!) and The Black Donnellys (Kevin!). Speaking of The Black Donnellys, there's a bonus ep online at NBC that won't be aired on TV, so for the few of you who don't already know about it, you should definitely check it out. :)

Aidan and I have been watching the old Nightmare on Elm Street films and oh how I love the cheese. I'd forgotten how bad the acting was, but they are still fun to watch and seem pretty low-key compared to some of the horror films of today.

I'm off to get my remaining title packages out and start on filing. Woo hoo!

Aidan and I are going to Scotland at the end of March. The flight is booked and we'll finally be taking a real vacation soon. Whee! I was initially planning on going to visit jenah but thought I might as well get as much bang for the buck as possible, so I decided on Scotland and going to see satanwasmypimp instead. I can hardly stand it. A real vacation. With my kiddo. And Riikka.
Happy belated New Year everyone!!!

Mia Online is back online with a new layout by the lovely Dora. Some of you know about it already, but since I haven't pimped it here yet, I thought I should. ;)

New LJ header featuring Asia Argento.

New Leoben LJ mood theme that may or may not stay. I want a Matt Saracen mood theme, but honestly, I’m too damned lazy to make one.

Tried to watch The DaVinci Code over the holidays and couldn't finish it. It was pretty but the acting, dialogue and suspense all seemed very fake to me and I just couldn't get into it because of those 3 things.

Also tried to watch Live Freaky! Die Freaky! but was too disgusted to watch it all. If you’re thinking about renting it DO NOT have any children around and don’t watch it around anyone who is easily offended or gets uncomfortable with a lot of sexual references and/or claymation porn (yes, they show it all). It’s one of the most tasteless things I’ve ever seen and it was not funny in any shape, form or fashion. I don’t even know if it was actually meant to be funny.

I also watched: Pulse - very pretty in a dark and eerie way, but just OK as a whole; Mozart and the Whale - loved it and thought Josh Hartnett was fab (Stop laughing at me. He’s really good in it.); and Americano - really enjoyed it and the behind the scenes stuff and it only made me love Josh Jackson even more. Yes, I’ve always had a thing for Josh J.

I’m currently obsessed with all things Asia Argento, Fletcher Humphrys and Callum Keith Rennie at the moment.

I’m addicted to baby carrots. They rule!

I capped another ep of Dexter, but still have 5 to go. I just haven’t been in much of a capping mood lately.

I’m looking forward to the new season of TLW a teeny tiny bit. Like a really tiny bit. It’ll probably suck ass like last season, but at least the hotness of Daniela Sea will make up for it. I hope so anyway because apparently Jenny, who I detest as it is even though I adore Mia K. to pieces, is supposed to be more loathe-worthy than ever this season. That should be loads of fun to watch and cap for Mia Online. Oh yeah! /sarcasm

Yay for FNL tonight! I so need a Saracen and Street fix. OK, so I kinda need a Riggins fix too. I’m starting to like him more and more even though I don’t want to. It’s the whole broody lonely boy. I’m a total sucker for them.

I think I’ve rambled about enough randomness for now. I’m going to finish up work so I can get the heck out of here.

Friday Night Lights
I've watched episodes 1-3 and 6&7, but still have 4&5 to go. I've really enjoyed what I’ve seen so far and I can't wait to watch the remaining episodes so I know the full scoop with what’s going on with everyone. As usual, I have neversince and jenah to thank for nudging me into checking it out.

The Good
I LOVE Jason. He’s such a good kid and he’s strong and brave and handling his situation very well. I like that he’s both optimistic and realistic about what he’s going through. I like that they aren’t trying to make him: (a) the 200% emotionally strong guy who can deal with anything without crying about it; (b) the guy who becomes an emotional wreck and a shell of his former self; (c) an angry bitter person who’s pissed off at the world; or (d) a super peppy guy who looks on the bright sunshiny side of everything that is thrown his way. Well, they haven’t gone there yet anyway and I hope it stays that way.

I have BIGMADCRAZYLOVEOMG for Matt. I love him with every fiber of my being and cannot wait to see where his story goes. He is such a wonderful guy who seems to be the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back and the last penny in his pocket and would probably throw in the shoes too, if you needed them as well. He has so much to deal on a daily basis but he doesn’t complain about any of it. He steps up and does what needs to be done even with all the nasty comments about him EVERYWHERE he goes and practically every time he turns on the radio or TV. Everyone and their mother is constantly talking about how he’s not good enough and not this and not that and that he should just be tossed already. Even though he’s shy and unsure of himself, he takes it all and continues to plug along and try his best to be the man of the house, hold down a job, go to school and live in Jason’s ginormous shadow and my heart just goes out to him more and more with each passing episode. *smooshes him*

Kyle Chandler rocks as Coach Taylor and he and Connie Britton (sp?) are awesome together. They play off of one another so well and you feel like they are a "real" married couple rather than a TV couple and it kinda rules because it’s such a rare thing to see.

Random comments: I love the football games and team goings on of the show. I love how it’s shot with what looks to be some hand held cameras because sometimes it’s a little shaky, out of focus at times, zooms in just a little too tight at times and that some shots are through things or behind things and how gives you a feeling of the actors being watched/filmed by someone they don’t know is there. Truly great cinematography. It also reminds me a lot of where I grew up - the small town that literally lives football, but on a larger scale and that is kind of interesting as well.

The Bad
The Triangle O’ Lurve and Dirty Cheaters. Yeah…Totally doesn’t work for me. There shouldn’t even be a soap-like quality to these 3 people. Lyla should die or just go away and never come back. I HATE her (see explanation below). Jason and Tim will have a lot to deal with because of the betrayal and all, but I think they can pull through together if she just goes far, far away. No, I do not ship the boys in any shape, form or fashion. I just think that their friendship is very important to and for both of them for different reasons and that it is also an important part of the story and it would be great to see them work things out without her around.

Yes, I’m a Lyla hater. She gags me. GAGS ME! She’s ANNOYING as all hell and I want to toss things at her every single time she appears on screen. Some people might find people like her loveable, but she sickens me. She’s so fake. She’s all fluffy bunnies and "the world is a rainbow" if you just pray and wish and believe hard enough. Then there are the dreams of marrying the pretty and popular star football player who is a truly good person. It feels to me like she has all these dreams of being with him BECAUSE he’s the pretty and popular star football player with a heart of gold who had a bright and shiny future as a pro player rather than the fact that she truly loves him for WHO he is and not WHAT he is. Plus, she’s a dirty cheater and that does not sit well with me. But, maybe she is a good girl and she truly believes that wishes and prayers can make everything possible if you only believe. Maybe it’s the actress rather than the character? I don’t know, but whatever it is, the less I see of her, the happier I will be. *throws rocks at her* Please note that I’m not making fun of people who are like her in real life. I’m just saying that with this particular character it seems very fake and the fact that she’s all smiles and fluff annoys me to tears.

Veronica Mars
I don’t have much to say about it this season. It’s OK. There have been moments of awesomeness, but for the most part, I’m not so much a feeling it. I’m having a terrible time getting past the OMGSOFREAKINGFAKE bald caps and wigs and facial hair and the list goes on and on. Is there something seriously wrong with the people in their makeup department or did RT want it to be all super cheesy? I was initially semi-OK with the new opening credits and now I know that I don’t like them. The images are pretty, but I don’t like the song slowed down and I just don’t think it works very well. Yeah, that’s all I have for now.

I made a few McLeod's Daughters icons the other day. I also made a few Grey's Anatomy icons and Point Pleasant icons over the past couple of months as well as a few other TV and film icons, but I can't remember what they were right now because I uploaded everything without taking note of which ones were new. Hopefully I won't forget next time. ;)

Yeah. Um. Disappointing is the only word I can find to accurately describe last week’s premier. I dug the Jim/Pam non-moments, but the rest of it offended me more than entertained me. Maybe it's because I have a lot of gay friends or something, but I thought the big gay theme of the show was just tacky and about as unfunny as the show could possibly get. Maybe I should watch it again? Totally random note, but I think John Krasinski looked much better with the extra poundage he used to have. He’s still totally hot, but his face and neck look too thin now. David Denman (Roy), on the other hand, looks way better now.

Too little Izzie. Too much of everyone else. I liked the moments in the bathroom with Izzie and the flashbacks, but that's about it. They tried to cram too much into the episode and the big patient moments of the week fell flat because they didn’t really go anywhere in the end. Did Addison just happen to find the panties? Did she follow them and watch them get it on and steal them? Did Derek pocket them and then she found them at home? It just seems weird that she would end up with them. I guess it was nice of her to launder them before tacking them to the wall because clean panties tacked to the wall would be a little less embarrassing for Meredith. I’m sooo over Meredith and Mc<s>Icky</s>Dreamy. She needs to either stick with Finn or go off on her own. Derek is not good for her. I’m still really liking Alex, but I’m sure he’s going to end up disappointing me again somehow. Bailey trying to calm down the husband of the dead woman and Cristina and Burke in the end totally made me cry. *sniff*

I loved the pilot and am looking forward to the next episode. I like that they didn’t rush through introducing the characters or make all of them giddy that they had new abilities. I like that some of them freaked the hell out and that some embraced their gifts. I loved the cinematography and enjoyed the music and I think it should make for a nifty new show. I’m not quite sure what to make of Ali Larter’s character’s ability. It was a bit creepy. I was very surprised by Adrian Pasdar’s character taking flight to rescue his brother. I didn’t see that one coming at all and kind of expected that his character to continue to be the stuffed shirt who only worries about his political career. This is very shallow, but he is still just as pretty has he has always been. ;) There's so much more that I could write, but I'm too lazy to do so at the moment.

I tried to watch Vanished. Twice. It’s one of the worst shows ever created. Even the pretty can’t make it watchable.

I also tried to watch Justice, Six Degrees and Runaway, but I didn’t like any of them very much. Six Degrees stunk which is kind of sad because it has a great cast. Well, a great cast with the exception of Bridget Moynahan. That woman can stink up anything. Ick!

I attempted to give Gilmore Girls another chance last night and it totally stunk. I’m sure some of you enjoyed it, but I think I’m officially done with the show now.

I was very, very bad and watched 3.01 of VM. Shame on me!

Yay for the Supernatural tomorrow!

I need a new LJ layout, but don’t know what I want.

Is it wrong that I'm totally loving the new Lemonheads tunes? Even if it is, I don't really care because they sound great.

I am beyond jealous of satanwasmypimp because she's going to the premier of The Black Dahlia at the Venice Film Festival and Mia, Scarlett and Josh are all there. I kind of wanted to poke fun at Josh for being a part of this film because he just didn't seem to fit, but from the clips and tv spots I've seen, it looks like he's done a damned good job with his role. I am so freakin' excited for the US premier coming up in a few weeks. This is the first time in a few years that Mia has been on the big screen and even though she plays the most tragic role of all, it's going to be amazing to see her in such a big production.

Speaking of Mia, mia-online.org has been revamped with a beautiful new layout thanks to the lovely Dora.

Bones premiers tonight.
I've eaten so many gummi bears over the past week it's not even funny. I think I'm addicted, but only to the red and semi-clear ones. The other ones suck. Why do companies bother to make green, yellow and orange candies? They're all terrible and taste nothing like lime, lemon or orange. Ick!

During my dental appointment the other day I found out that all my years of jaw clenching have finally paid off and I've cracked a couple of back teeth. Go me! Seriously though, I don't know how to stop clenching my jaws in order to help prevent further destruction. I can't wear my mouthpiece at work because it makes me drool and I can't talk very well with it in. I chew gum sometimes, but typically end up chewing too much and it wrecks my tongue. I've been cutting back on my caffeine intake because it just makes me clench my jaws even tighter. So frustrating.

On a super happy note, I bought a new sleeper sofa and loveseat today. It's the first real furniture that I've purchased for myself. Ever. Everything I've had before has been handed down from one family member or another, but this is mine and I couldn't be more excited. I'm going rug, table and lamp shopping over the weekend to spruce up my living room. Can't wait!

I've watched 4 Gael Garcia Bernal films this week, all but 1 of which ROCKED. I rented 2 more today and I have to say that I blame Mariana for starting me down this path. It all started with her sending me The King and now I can't stop watching his films. Good stuff!!!

I'm off to bed. Nighty night.

I've gone plain

My brain has calmed down now and my emotions aren't so all over the place. I still don't feel OK just yet, but I will in time.

I forgot to pimp it sooner, but ITC has been revamped with a shiny summery layout. The screencap gallery is also back online and I added caps from TDZ 5.01 earlier today.

I changed my LJ layout again, but to a plainer look that matches my Aquamarine icon. I also changed my journal title, but it's still a Butch-centric lyric. ;) Speaking of The Man, his new album, The Rise and Fall of Butch Walker and the Let's-Go-Out-Tonights, kicks butt. It's very different from his other albums and I really dig it.

I'm off to watch some more Bones. Only a few more eps to go. Wheee!

For those of you thinking that I may have dropped off the face of the earth because I haven't posted, called or emailed you, I'm still here, there's just nothing interesting to report or squee about a the moment. I've been working on site stuff, capping things for friends, working my butt off, dreaming about buying new furniture that doesn't look like crap with all the money that I don't have, catching up on some TV I've missed (namely Bones) and watching movies. Oh, and making the occasional icon. I tried to watch an episode of Entourage, but I didn't really like it very much. I think it's more that I just wasn't in the mood for that kind of thing when I tuned in than anything else. I'll give it another shot in a week or so. :)

Since I haven't pimped Butch Walker in forever...His new album came out this week, so go out and get it or download it from iTunes and show the man some love.

That's all I have for now. I'm off to run some errands, get lunch and wrap my mom's birthday present.

Notice to Asia Argento fans regarding The Heart is Deceitful...

Asia emailed my friend Mariana today and asked her to post the below message on Ode to Azia to let everyone who bought the US version of 'The Heart is Deceitful Above all Things' know that the version currently being sold HAS NOT been approved by Asia herself and that she is really sorry if you happened to purchase it already. The DVDs are currently being removed from stores at her request. If you have purchased the US version already, you can email Palm Pictures at help@palmpictures.com with your name and address and they will ship you a replacement DVD. This is only valid for those who purchased the US version. If you happen to know other Asia fans who don't know about this incident yet, please pass on a link to this post or to Mariana's site and help spread the word.

EMAIL FROM ASIA:

"I just came back from a quick trip to LA where I bought the heart is Deceitful on DVD (Tower Records on Sunset) and was appalled to find there are 4 minutes missing, they’ve just been erased from the movie. I asked explanations to Chris and Roberta Hanley, the producers, and they told me Palm Pictures is taking the dvds back and replacing them. I am not sure how long this process will take and I find it very embarrassing.

On another shitty note: the booklet included with the dvd, with the Mick Rock photos (most of them have nothing to do with the film!) and those dreadful comments (including mine about JTs pussy!!!! which I said casually and jokingly to folks between dirty Martinis in NYC at the time of the premiere and never expected to find it within the dvd of the Heart) it’s complete crap! I never approved any of it. I am sorry for the people that have bought this dvd thinking they were going to watch some kind of film and found the National Enquirer instead.

And oh, the new poster? It’s so bad its not even funny."

Dead & Breakfast rocks! It has everything a kick arse horror comedy should have: a fun cast that includes a lot of JDM goodness, great music filled moments, corny dialogue, intentionally cheesy make up, a decapitated head used as a hand puppet, gallons and gallons of blood, lots of crunching and squishing, makeshift weapons, interesting dance sequences and a storyline that makes little to no sense. What's not to love about that? Now, go out and rent it and enjoy the cheesy goodness for yourself. :D

New LJ layout featuring the fantabulous Izzie. Thanks again to jenah for the lovely header. :D

I'm officially all caught up on S1 and S2 of Grey's Anatomy and LOVED every moment of it, even the moments when I wanted to smack a few of the characters around. Izzie has been my favorite from the first episode I saw, which happened to be the S2 finale. It took me a few eps, but I fell for Alex too. I'm an Izzie/Alex shipper AND an Izzie/Denny shipper. Such great interaction between those guys. Bailey is still beyond awesome. As much as I wanted to hate Ellen Pompeo and Meredith, I ended up really liking her. I hated her for a few moments during the scary porn!sex in the finale, but all in all, I liked that she was a real person with real flaws. The thing that I did not get was how every man who came in contact with her thought she was the greatest thing since sliced bread. It was weird. Back to the rest of the cast...I never fell for McDreamy. I liked him alright, but he didn't take my breath away and make me want to have his babies or anything. McSteamy on the other hand? Rawr! I finally started to like Addison a bit towards the end, but again, no real love there. Burke is cool and I love the dynamic between he and Cristina. I dig George, but that moment with Meredith was awful. Just awful. I think that I could like Callie if she didn't look like a drag queen. Is it necessary that she look like a drag queen? Not every Latina in the world wears 5000 pounds of makeup. She and George creep me out a little, but I could potentially like them as a couple. Maybe. Last but not least, there's my Denny love. Oh how JDM rocks my world. He is, hands down, the coolest man to grace my screen this year. Whether he's kicking demon ass on Supernatural or doing his "I tricked her into marrying me. How smart am I?" with a sly smirk on Grey's Anatomy or doing his thing on some other show or movie, he is just so natural and charming and you can't help but love him. In closing, I loved the show and I can't wait for next season. I do hate that it's up against Supernatural though because that means it'll have to be recorded and watched the next day because there is no way in hell I'm missing the brothers Winchester.

Back to work I go. So much to do. No desire to do it. ;P

For all of you Charisma Carpenter and/or Eric Mabius fans, Voodoo Moon will be premiering tomorrow night on the Sci Fi channel at 9/8C. If it weren't for the fact that I'm addicted the Sci Fi Channel, I wouldn't have known about it. I don't really care whether it is good or stinky, they both rock and it will be fun to see them in a film together. :D
